Zion National Park, Utah, Lower Subway Panorama–2: The hike down Subway canyon is over 9 miles with occasional ice cold water to swim through and several cliffs to repel down. But the hardest part of the hike is the last one half mile where the mountain is so steep you can reach out in front of you and touch the trail. I don’t recommend this hike without my brother-in-law, Chad, who is a master of the subway. The reward for this effort is apparent. This image is actually a composite of four photographs stitched together to create one.

Five Faces Pictograph, Canyonlands National Park, Utah:
Canyonlands, National Park, is filled with ancient pictographs and petroglyphs. This scene of the Five Faces is located in an alcove that is easily missed unless you know where you are going. I took this image just as the sun was disappearing behind the mountain behind me.
